OUR CLASSES & DESCRIPTION

What is a Reformer?
A Pilates reformer resembles a bed frame with a sliding platform (the carriage) where the mattress would typically be. Attached ropes and pulleys connect your hands or feet to the reformer’s springs, adjusting the tension and intensity of your Pilates exercises.
As the name implies, a reformer class is designed to transform your body’s movement patterns, helping eliminate bad habits and enhance posture, strength, and mobility.

How does Reformer work?
Whether lying, kneeling, sitting, or standing, each Reformer session offers a full-body workout that balances strength, flexibility, and control.
While classes primarily focus on the Reformer, other studio equipment may also be incorporated to target specific areas and add variety. The goal of a Reformer class is to create a dynamic range of coordinated movements – ultimately doing what it’s designed to do… reform your body!

Is a Reformer class for me?
The Reformer is ideal for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. If you enjoy mat Pilates but are looking for more intensity, challenge, and personalised feedback on alignment, the Reformer is an excellent choice.
Please note, however, that classes may not be suitable for those with significant injuries or those requiring Pilates for rehabilitation.

What is a Tower?
The Tower Unit (also known as the Cadillac) is a wall frame with adjustable spring resistance.

How does the Tower work?
This Pilates class provides a full-body workout, boosting metabolism and promoting muscle toning while challenging you in various positions. It targets one muscle group at a time before quickly moving on to another.
The workout is designed to engage both large muscle groups and smaller stabilizing muscles, focusing on your power centre. The Tower Unit supports the spine as you work to mobilize, strengthen, and stretch this important area of the body.

Is a Tower Class for me?
Tower Pilates is ideal for those who enjoy Mat Pilates, want to challenge their entire body, and are looking to deepen their Pilates practice.
However, Tower sessions may not be suitable for individuals with significant injuries or those requiring Pilates for rehabilitation.

What is a Wunda chair?
Joseph Pilates referred to the Pilates chair as his compact gym. The cushioned seat serves as your mat, while a spring-loaded pedal on one side allows you to position your hands or feet, depending on the exercise. With adjustable springs, you can fine-tune the resistance to match your needs. Despite its seemingly simple design, the chair is actually one of the most sophisticated pieces of equipment in the studio.

What can I expect?
While the chair can be a valuable tool for injury rehabilitation, it is also a challenging piece of equipment designed to elevate Pilates practice from basic and intermediate levels to more advanced techniques. It’s especially beneficial for those looking to build strength in both the upper body and legs.

Is this for me?
Chair sessions are ideal for those who have a solid understanding of Pilates fundamentals and are ready to challenge their strength and flexibility to the next level!
However, these sessions may not be suitable for beginners or individuals dealing with major injuries.
