Michael Karagiorgos was born in 1992 in Athens, Greece. From an early age, his passion for sports led him to track and field, where he excelled in both middle- and long-distance events.
In 2015, he graduated from the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since then, Michael has worked as a physical education teacher at Dukas School and as a personal trainer, focusing on small group training sessions.
His introduction to Pilates came after a sudden injury, which sparked his interest in the discipline’s rehabilitative potential. This inspired him to pursue formal Pilates training, completing a programme at A.F. Studies in 2019. He also earned his comprehensive certification through the National Pilates Teacher Certification Programme (NPCP) and completed the “Adult Educators Training” program at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.
In 2022, Michael established his own Pilates studio, Pilates by Michael, in Athens. One year later, he launched Pilates Loom, an internationally recognised, full comprehensive teacher training programme rooted in the Method of Joseph Pilates. Each year, workshops and events are organised to bring together the global Pilates community, fostering collaboration and learning about the latest developments.
